Can you grow these cuttings in sand or cocopeat

I did this to some soft stem growth on my hydrangea and stuck them straight into soil and watered with fertilizer water. Should i take them out and put in smaller soil pots? Or will the 6” pot with 4-5 stems in it be fine?

So why did they die? Too much water?

I don't understand how this work, but then if you do overwatering when the plant is in soil, it will suffer damage and go yellow/brown. How is it that a glass full of water won't cause overwatering, but bad drainage in soil will?

What soil did you use? I always have a Hard time when transitioning from water to soil. It always seems to die matter which plant I’m trying to do.

When the ZZ raven is in soil you do not have to water this plant . 4 tablespoons of water is plenty. If the soil holds any moisture even for a few days the roots quickly rot. This happened to me twice the soil was not saturated just moist and the tubers and roots were completely rotted I had to cut the leaves off for propagation .Watering every 2 months seems too much try every 3 months. I also recommend using bonsai tree soil and cactus mix for this plant. 75% bonsai tree soil and 25% cactus mix. This plant loves to be neglected.

I just subscribed to your great channel. I wonder what a job it would be to keep track and care for such a large variety of plants? This spring, as I add to my collection, I'll have a total of about 10 or a dozen, all with different needs in terms of sunlight and watering requirements. All I can conclude it they must keep track of it by writing it down or logging it into a computer. I use my wall calendar and write in the spaces for the dates: what I did to each one, in terms of watering or fertilizing. It's amazing how losing a few to neglect or giving them "too much care" will cause you to sharpen up!

That's got to be the coolest thing ever! It's a couple of days past Thanksgiving '23, so I'll wait until spring '24 to get a Gollum Jade. I had a Crassula Ovata (garden variety jade), and I admit, I just plain overwatered it. First, it protested by dropping a few lower petals ("leaves"). Then, it just got soft about half way up the stem and rotted in half, just keeling over! I learned my lesson. When it comes to either variety, you just have to treat them like a large cactus. When it comes to watering, EASY DOES IT! Good luck with yours.
